Markham, Ontario, October 13, 2006

CAMESE’s Phelps Dodge Canadian Conference for Mining Suppliers

Following a sold-out, buyer-seller event for Barrick Gold in 2005, CAMESE is back with another unique opportunity for mining suppliers to meet key buyers in a major mining company.

Phelps Dodge, one of the world’s leading producers of copper and molybdenum, employs 14,500 people worldwide. Two major projects on the horizon are the development of a copper mine in Safford, Arizona and a copper/cobalt mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Through their recent interests in entering Canada’s mining industry, Phelps Dodge has discovered the Canadian mining supply sector and wants to know more about it. They are open to forging new relationships that will benefit their operations.

A team of 12 senior procurement executives will travel from Phoenix, Arizona to Toronto to talk about their requirements and meet personally with supplier representatives. Among them will be procurement specialists in the following fields: Commodity management; Chemicals; Mobile equipment and tires; Fuels, lubricants, explosives and acid; Shovels and drills; Grinding media, liners and conveyance; Maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) and Services.

To be held in Richmond Hill, just north of Toronto, the event opens in the evening of November 13, 2006 and runs all day on the 14th. Only 80 delegates can be accommodated and the first registration cut-off is November 6, 2006. Full information including a registration form is available at www.camese.org/PhelpsDodge.pdf.

Celebrating its 25th year, The Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export (CAMESE) is the national voice for Canada’s mining equipment and service exporters.  Its more than 250 corporate members across the country supply the entire mining industry spectrum including mineral exploration, mine development, mining, mineral processing, environmental monitoring, smelting and refining.

In addition to providing members with information and advice, advocacy and an international marketing program, CAMESE is most interested in providing foreign brokers or end-users with information about reliable Canadian sources of all types of goods and services used in the mining industry.
