Following the sudden departure of Maurice Bichsel last year, after seven years of excellent service as CAMESE’s Director – International Market Development, we had to quickly find someone who could lead our contingents to trade shows.
Fortunately Dave Archer agreed to take time away from the international sales representation and export sales training that he had been doing successfully for 12 years and we signed a one-year contract. In his year with CAMESE, Dave managed Canada Pavilions in Peru, Brazil, Mexico and Chile.
Dave now wants to return to business and would like to work with a CAMESE member firm that wishes to enhance its international business development and sales. Those who know Dave from his tenure with us will realise that he is an excellent sales person. His experience in this field includes sales to the mining and other sectors in some 40 countries. Some of his strengths include his ability to speak Spanish fluently, his commitment and work ethic and a strong team orientation.
Dave will be available to assist CAMESE for the next several weeks or until he starts a new position. He may be reached at his private phone at: 705-717-8895. I (Jon Baird) would be pleased to provide a reference for Dave. Please do not hesitate to contact me at tel: 905-513-0046 ext 302 or e-mail: baird@camese.org.
Many readers will know Roy Jakola from his years of experience with mining supply companies such as Atlas Copco, Jarvis-Clark, Rojak and El-Equip. Most recently, he was Director Terrestrial Applications with MDA. Roy joins CAMESE on May 14 as Director – Business Development.
Beginning his career as a miner in Sudbury, Roy has an extensive background in sales, marketing and business development in the mining sector, both in Canada and around the world.
In his new position, Roy will become our new trade show leader, beginning with this fall’s intensive series of five international events. He will be assisted in this by Dolores Wharton.
Roy will also fill the duties covered previously by Bruce Miller who was our Director – Member Services for many years. After his retirement, Bruce was followed by Katia Mazzoli-Brown who left CAMESE recently. In this function, Roy will work to expand the membership and to ensure that members receive full value from their association.
Anyone who has attended a trade show with CAMESE likely knows Dolores Wharton. Although she does not attend all events, she is essential to the organization and logistics of every one. In her eight years with us, Dolores has served as Project Co-ordinator, working three days per week. She has recently completed a certificate in event management and has now accepted full-time employment as our Exhibition Manager.
