MDT’s SMART line of products: Intelligent instrumentation for mining

Mine Design Technologies (MDT) is an instrumentation and engineering services company specializing in geotechnical applications. MDT’s patented six-node electronic SMART cable bolts, SMART contractometers, and SMART MPBX’s (MultiPoint Borehole eXtensometers) have been specifically designed for mining applications: they are rugged, easy to install, but lower in cost than traditional geotechnical instruments. MDT’s SMART cables are designed to replace cables in an existing support pattern, and can be manufactured to any length or cable configuration you require, including plated. They show the actual loads developing on your cable bolts. When used in combination with MPBX’s, a complete picture of your ground support can be obtained, and then optimized. MDT’s novel contractometer measures ground squeeze, and has seen use in a variety of areas, including shotcrete and sill pillar monitoring, as well as inside micro-piles. MDT’s SMARTRemote data acquisition system is the perfect complement to the SMART product line, allowing remote data collection with the results sent to a surface PC via a variety of methods. MDT’s unique products are in use at mining operations and civil projects around the world. Custom instrumentation programs, support design and evaluation, and data interpretation services are also offered. |
