Rotesco Inc. manufactures the Magnetester a dual-functioning, electromagnetic, steel-wire rope testing instrument. The Magnetester simultaneously indicates local faults (deterioration) in the form of broken wires, corrosion pitting, external wear, inter-strand wear and nicking, and rope distortion, while also measuring loss of metallic cross-sectional area caused by corrosion, broken wires, wear and local faults. The loss of metallic cross-section, combined with the extent and nature of the local fault trace can be used to help determine when a rope has reached the end of its safe working life and should be removed. It can also be used to estimate the loss of breaking strength of a rope. Rotesco has been offering steel-wire rope testing services for more than 30 years and has one of the most extensive testing services in the world.
